Abstract
The research project discussed the dry season farming in Kwadon a settlement or area located in Yamaltu-Deba Local Government area of Gombe State due to the presence of stream and shallow underground water in the area. The dry season farming is heavily practiced but accompanied by various socio-economic problems that ought to be look into chapter one of the studies which points out the aim and objectives, state the research problem and research question have been answered. The study reveals that most of the respondents or farmers practicing dry season farming in the area are male the mostly fall within the age group of 26-35 which forms the core of labour force, it also found that most of the respondents are not well educated and therefore lack some level of professionalism in the way and manner they carried out the dry season farming. They are mostly married, the married one are 77%.
The land used for the activities was found to be mostly on rent, and the size is generally small range from 1-2 hecter thereby affecting the income generated from boreholes and drip method of irrigation is heavily practiced by the farmers. The major problem encountered or complained by the farmers include lack of government support and encouragement, pest and disease lack of fertilizer at subsidized rate, shortage of water, thieves, lack of enough arable land and capital.
